WhatsApp, a popular messenger app has come up with a new user interface (UI) for its Android users. The new design is a Material Design UI and has several changes in the interface of the app.
WhatsApp New Material Design Interface for Android
The latest WhatsApp version 2.12.38, features new icons, animations, and color-flipped emoticons (emoji – also available on iOS) tray and also incorporates the new WhatsApp calling feature. The calls, feature to add media or contacts as well as additional settings is all now available on a single bar in a chat window.
Here is the interface before the new interface and next to it is the updated version of the interface.
The chat conversation is now in the form of a bubble like chat design which is a significant transformation compared to the earlier interface. Several small animations too have been added.
In case of the profile picture, it is bigger in size and further details of the contact number, media groups, etc. are all on the same screen. Also, if you rotate the screen the profile picture takes up more than 50% of the screen space while the other details are set beside the picture.
The contact list too has changed in terms of interface. The names are clearer and apparently the interface looks more organized. The profile picture icons have been changed from square boxes to circular icons.
While WhatsApp calling for Android and now iOS too has been launched, the company is also planning to come up with this interface update for Window too.
Though this update in the interface is not available on Google Playstore as yet for Android users, you can download the update from WhatsApp’s official website.
