Tanmay Tech news Leave a Comment

Your smartphone tells you many things about itself. You just need to know where to look for it! Smartphones today have inbuilt USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) codes that give you a whole lot of information about your phones. Important details like your phone’s IMEI number, battery usage, software versions, hardware details, radiation levels, etc. can now be understood by just dialing certain codes on your smartphone.
Here are some USSD codes that you must know for better usability of your smartphones.

USSD Code to Check your Smartphone Details

*#*#4636#*#*: It gives a lot of information of smartphone under the following given areas:

  • Phone Information: It shows IMEI, Signal strength, software versions, etc.
  • Battery Information: This shows battery level, health, voltage, temperature, and time since the last boot has taken place
  • Usage Statistics: It shows how many times you have used each and every app on your smartphone
  • Wi-Fi information: It shows Wi-Fi API, configuration and its status.

Code to Check the IMEI Number

*#06#: Dialing this USSD code shows the IMEI number which is basically a 15 digit unique number and it acts as the social security number of your phone. Sometimes, when typing in “*#06#”, it will add 2 additional digits at the end of the number. In such cases, the first 15 digits should be taken into consideration. The IMEI number of your phone becomes very helpful in case of theft of your smartphone.

USSD Code to Check the Radiation of a Smartphone

SAR which is an abbreviation of  Specific Absorption Rate is a measurement technique and it is used to calculate the amount of radio frequency energy absorbed by the living body while it uses a mobile phone. According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), there are certain limits for safe exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy  which is  1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg).  Any phone above this level is not considered to be safe to use.
You can check Radiation level in terms of SAR of your smartphone by dialing a USSD code *#07#, if results shows SAR below 1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg) then it is safe; otherwise it is advisable to change your mobile as soon as possible.
There are many apps available to supply these USSD codes in the market. However, proper clarification and research is necessary before using any USSD code. This is because, there are certain codes that change your phones settings to Factory Reset or something that wipes out your phone’s memory. So, you should use USSD codes with caution.
