It is no secret that we can get access to Windows 10 Technical Preview through sign-up at Windows Insider Program. We can download the Windows 10 TP ISO file to check out the amazing features that are in store for the final version of Windows 10 OS to be released in first half of 2015 by Microsoft. We have already had few updates to Windows 10 Technical Preview (Disable Integrated Webcam in Windows 10) and Microsoft Windows lovers can expect the Windows 10 Consumer Preview to be launched sometime in January 2015.
One of the prominent features for Windows 10 has been the continuity with sharing apps facility (apps appearing in sharing list of this latest Windows OS) and taking it to a different level altogether. The behavior seen so far from this Operating System makes us believe that Microsoft has induced plenty of flexibility in their most recent Operating System. In fact, this Windows 10 platform enables you to share files across apps, just like it’s predecessors like Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. However, by the looks of Windows 10 Technical Preview’s Sharing feature, it is far more visually appealing. Also, it is more flexible now and allows you to quickly share different file types using innovative apps from the Windows sharing list.
Since you may not wish to clutter your Sharing List with plenty of unwanted apps or apps that you don’t use frequently, Microsoft has provided a flexible option to decide which apps you want to appear in the Sharing List of your Windows OS. In this article, we shall understand the process to customize the Sharing App List feature of Windows 10 Technical Preview i.e how to manage the Sharing app list functionality for in-built apps. In fact, we will discuss about the steps to check the status of sharing app list or remove apps from sharing list of Windows 8. The same process will be applicable for the Sharing List of Windows 10 TP.
Steps to Remove Unwanted Apps from Sharing Apps List of Windows 10 ,Windows 8 or Windows 8.1
We shall try the process for Windows 8. Once you are inside your Windows Operating System and browsing normally, you need to reach the option to “Change PC Settings”. This can be done by simply pressing the “Windows” key and “I” in unison from your keyboard.
You then arrive at the PC Settings section by clicking on the “Change PC Settings” option appearing at the bottom.
Out of the various options under settings like Users, Notifications, Search, Share, etc., you need to select “Share”.
Now, on the right hand side, you see different apps like Mail, People, SkyDrive appearing under the section “Use these apps to share”. In case of the Technical Preview for Windows 10, there would be many more apps in this list like Music, Reading List, OneNote, etc. Depending on your requirement, you can turn ‘OFF’ sharing for any of the apps in that list by simply sliding the button that is ‘ON’ currently (as seen in above screen).
The above tutorial also works for Windows 10 TP and helps you to remove apps from sharing list of Windows 10 Technical Preview thus manage in-built or default apps sharing. Hope you will be able to make the best use of this Windows App Sharing feature and the flexibility it provides to decide usage of particular apps in the sharing list. This is more like using a smartphone’s OS platform (Android or iOS). What is your opinion about this wonderful feature?
