Get Multiple Twitter Accounts With One Email Address

Tanmay Internet Leave a Comment

If you need multiple Twitter accounts, you can obviously get them by signing up with different email addresses. But, you need to manage all those email addresses to view the notifications or change the account settings for each Twitter account.
For example, if you use one Twitter account to write personal tweets and another for blog related tweets, you might end up with managing double email addresses. Another useful example is the twitter feed. You can’t use the same email that you used with your Twitter account to signup at twitter feed. You are bound to associate a different email address. However, this makes things more complicated as you need to mange several email addresses.
We have found a way to get multiple Twitter accounts using one email address. You can associate all your Twitter accounts and the twitter feed account with only one email address. You just need to use a Gmail or Google apps address as other email addresses won’t work.

How to Sign-up multiple Twitter Account with One Google Account

Adding a dot [.] at any place of the username portion is treated as a new alias in Gmail. All the emails addressing those aliases will still reach the same Gmail account. For instance, consider username@gmail.com. If you add a dot into the ‘username’ portion e.g user.name@gmail.com, use.rname@gmail.com; they will represent nothing but the aliases of the main Gmail account, username@gmail.com.
Note: This trick works with only Gmail or Google apps addresses. Other email addresses like Yahoo, Hotmail, Outlook won’t work.

You can use those aliases to sign-up with multiple Twitter accounts. Twitter will treat username@gmail.com. user.name@gmail.com and use.rname@gmail.com as different email addresses. Though Twitter treats them as different, they are just the aliases of the same email address and they will point the same Gmail inbox. All the notification emails from your different Twitter accounts will reach the same inbox. Thus you can deal with multiple Twitter accounts using a single email address.
If you use Google apps address, you will have to activate the catch-all option in your domain settings. So, it is better that you use a simple Gmail address to avoid complexity.
Alternative trick
When you sign-up for a Gmail account, it automatically create another valid email address with the domain googlemail.com. For instance, if your Gmail address is yourusername@gmail.com then it automatically validates yourusername@googlemail.com. So, if your concern is to deal with only two Twitter accounts, you can use this trick.

I did the same thing with Yahoo! Mail Plus. Granted, I had to pay either $15 or $20 per year (and yes, Google mail with Gmail is free). However, Yahoo! Mail Plus also allows multiple separate logins, all linking back to the same email account.
This is more than provided on Yahoo! basic free accounts, with one regular account id and a second limited function alias. Most services don’t detect that I’m using the same Yahoo account when I do multiple account registrations. I’ll attempt same with Twitter, and try to report back on the outcome.
