HTC One ME Review: The phone that you need to have?

HTC is going through a tough time these days, it is said that the company’s sales and the market share has decreased and the company has seen a decline in popularity. HTC had launched HTC One ME after it launched M9 and E9+ in the market. This smartphone is the first one to come with a Helios X10 processor and was launched at a price of Rs. 40,500.

HTC One Me looks really astonishing. It has a plastic back which is prone to smudges and fingerprints. The back is bit curved which makes the device easier to hold. The device comes with front firing speakers and the fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the home button (sort of Samsung style) but you can’t really press the home button, actually it is not even a button as you can’t press it. The back houses the 20MP camera which is surrounded by Saturn rings that adds to the look of the device.

HTC One ME comes with three different color variants, Meteor Grey, Rose Gold, Gold Sepia. We got the Grey variant, which actually looks like black. If you ask me then I would certainly suggest you to go for Rose Gold variant as that is really beautiful.

Power, Volume buttons and memory card slot placed on the right hand side on this device while dual SIM trays are on the left side. MicroUSB port and earphone jack can be found on the bottom of the phone.

HTC One Me comes with a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440*2560 pixels. The resolution translates to a pixel density of 565ppi. Viewing angles are quite good so you and your friends aren’t gonna face any trouble while watching something together. The color reproduction of the display is pretty good and the display is super sharp as well. But let e tell you that 2K display eats a lot of battery and this guy comes with just 2840mAh battery meaning that the display eats too much of power!

HTC One Me is running on MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor at a 2.2 GHz clock speed. It’s quite effective depending on various aspects such as speed. 3GB RAM with the Helios X10 is like cherry on the cake. You get 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 2TB with the help of a microSD card.

The device was able to multi-task easily. One ME easily ran heavy games such as GTA San Andreas, Nova 3 etc. The device gave a score around 55,000 in Antutu and around 60fps in Nenamark.

It comes with HTC Sense UI 7.0 which is pretty good and smooth although there were some minor lags while using the blink feed.

HTC has done a great job in both; the front as well as the back camera. The device comes with a 20MP camera on the back with an f/2.2 aperture which takes really stunning shots easily. The camera can shoot up to 4K videos easily.

This time HTC has put an UltraPixel camera on the front instead of back, those who don’t know UltraPixel camera use a larger sensor for capturing the image that allows more light to fall on the sensor and as a result the images that are produced are way brighter than the normal ones. The images clicked by the front camera even in low lighting conditions were really good although we missed some sharpness in some of the images.

All the smartphones are racing ahead of each other in terms of all specifications but battery. HTC One ME comes with non-removable 2840mAh battery that fails to impress. It is a really tiny battery as the device has to run a 2K display along with the Helios X10 processor.  The phone does come with some battery saving modes but they are not really efficient in saving the battery.

We didn’t get the ME’s charger so we had to use different chargers for the device, it took around 3-4 hours for the device to fully charge and almost all of the battery drained within 2-3 hours of usage. If you are a moderate user then also you may require a second charge by the evening.

HTC One ME, no doubt is a really great smartphone, but at a price tag of Rs. 40,500 it doesn’t really sounds amusing to me. Thankfully the prices of the phone  have been dropped to Rs. 29,999 and you can get it for this price at a lot of online stores. At price tag of Rs. 29,999 this phone doesn’t really sounds that bad as you are getting 2K display, 3GB of RAM and Helios X10 processor. But if you are someone who has high battery requirement then I will ask you to get something else as the battery performs really bad.
