HTC has launched it’s new flagship smartphone in the Indian market, called the HTC 10. The new smartphone has been priced at INR 52,990, and will be available from June 5 onwards. The first 500 buyers will also get a transparent Ice View case for free.
The HTC 10 has dropped the ‘One’ from the smartphone’s name, and overhauled the design and specifications. The metal body smartphone features chamfered edges and dual-textured finish. The glass covered front smoothly flows into the metal body at the edges. There is also a fingerprint scanner embedded into the home button. It sports a 5.2-inch Super LCD 5 display with QHD [2560 x 1440 pixels] resolution. The company claims that the new display is up to 30 percent more colorful, and 50 percent more responsive than its predecessor. The new smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 4GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 2TB via a micro SD card. It runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS with HTC Sense UI on top. The company has promised an Android L upgrade later this year.
The HTC 10 sports a 12-Ultrapixel 2 rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization [OIS], and laser auto-focus. Camera features include Pro mode, Auto HDR, HTC Zoe, hyperlapse, slow motion mode and 4K video recording. It also sports a 5-megapixel auto-focus front camera with 1.34MICROm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, OIS, auto HDR and ultra-wide angle lens. The smartphone also comes with world’s first stereo 24-bit Hi-Res audio recording capabilities, which can capture up to 256 times more detail than standard recordings. Other audio features include HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition with Dolby Audio support. It includes 4G LTE support, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and USB Type-C port as connectivity options. The new smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
The HTC 10 seems like the company’s sincere effort to maintain its brand alive with new improvements in terms of design, build quality, cameras, and audio capabilities. However, the high price point in India is going to be a major concern in terms of sales. It will face tough competition from almost all major flagship devices. What do you think about this device?
