When was the last time you found an interesting blog, link or read on Facebook, but could not go through it because of time constraints? Almost every other day isn’t it? Well, seeing this as a potential way to get users back on the topic, Facebook has announced a smart feature that would help you ‘save’ an item that you find on your news feed. It is not restricted to one or two items, it could be different links, news stories, video clips, music options that have been uploaded and even places. So, the next time you see a interesting read on your Facebook news feed and cannot read it you would be able to just add it into your ‘saved’ list using ‘save’ option of Facebook. In this article, we shall have a look at the some of the advantages of this bookmarking (save) feature from Facebook.
The key positive with this new Facebook save feature is that you can practically mark things on your news feed almost effortlessly. You would never have to search back through your feed or through a profile for something you found interesting. Facebook will also keep each of these items private which ensures no one will get a notification if you mark something they have put on their profile. You would have the option to share anything you have marked, but it is an optional feature.
Now, it is quite obvious that we would want to follow up on the saved item list that we have made on Facebook, In case we forget about the list or we do not access them for a while, Facebook would give us a reminder to look at the saved items. In short, you never forget about reading that ‘something’ you found interesting enough to save.
Using Facebook Save Feature
The social media giant have made it extremely easy to mark the items that you want on the save option. The moment you see an interesting topic on your news feed, you can click on the ‘save’ button that is present on the bottom-right of the post or you can even click the down-arrow icon that is present at the top right of the post. You can then select the save option.
Now, this feature is not only limited to posts that you get on your news feed, you can even save posts and items that are present on a Facebook page or a company’s page – you can simply click on the ‘more’ icon on the post and then select the ‘save’ option.
The biggest advantage seen with this is that users would be able to relocate brand specific products and posts that they have seen earlier. Once you have marked a few products in your saved list, this would appear in the ‘save’ section of Facebook on your desktop. You can see this on the left – side navigation area on your desktop version of Facebook. Here, you can view links you have saved based on categories or even all the items you have saved. On the mobile application front, you can see the ‘save’ option amongst the tabs.
After you complete viewing the item that you had saved, you can save it for later too or you can delete it permanently. In case you want to archive the item, just click on the ‘X’ that is present on the right – top corner. In the case you want to delete it permanently, choose the ‘delete’ option in the ‘more’ icon.
Expect people to be engaged for longer with this feature from Facebook. We usually use bookmarks or read-it-later-list to remember specific links, but this would save us the effort. It is quite similar to the ‘favorites’ option that Twitter has. The feature is expected to be released completely in the next few days. With this user-friendly feature, the social networking giant has made it clear that it is ready to innovate to give a better experience to the users.
