Apple has always provided its iOS users with wide range of features. But the problem is that as many online features a smart phone has the more mobile data it consumes. For this purpose, Apple has also allowed its users to manage their mobile or cellular data. As there are always, almost in every country around the globe, limited mobile data packages and there is no service provider or Carrier offering unlimited internet bandwidth Packages. So iOS developers have given special attention to its iOS for this problem.
This is a common problem for all the users around the globe. Low data limit at high prices is a great problem, but you cannot do anything rather than buying these packages because there is no other option. With limited data on your iOS device you cannot do much with your device when not in the coverage of unlimited Internet facility. There are many methods on iPhone to minimize the data usage but same does not go for iPad as it consumes much more data than iPhone. When you have 2 GB of data per month it gets really difficult to manage it to use it till the end of the month.
When the user is not at home or office where he can use unlimited data over Wi-Fi, he must have to use mobile data when in need. There are many other limitations faced by different people in different circumstances. These limitations push the user to use Mobile data and you end up running out of limit in a few days. For saving bandwidth of your Mobile data you need to turn off auto update of apps on your iPhone over mobile data, you cannot use YouTube much and you cannot even browse a lot.
When using your device or browsing on your iOS device your device may be consuming data secretly in background. Many apps on iOS use background data to work smoothly. The use of background data by the apps require cellular data. You will have to provide your mobile data so that your background processes can run smoothly and you can enjoy your iOS device. But it is on the other hand diminishing your bandwidth which is already limited. If you think background app and processes are eating up your cellular data, you can simply disable it for any specific app you want.
This is possible to prevent any app from using your cellular data if that is listed on the corresponding list. This is very easy and not much time consuming to block particular app from using your data. At the same time, you do not need any other third party app to do so as the feature comes with your iOS device and you can make use of it on iPhone as well as iPad.
Disable mobile/cellular data for specific App on iOS
For this tutorial to work you do not need any third party app to be installed on your iOS device. You just have to follow these steps below to get your work done.
- Unlock your device and go to the homepage.
- Tap on the Settings icon to open the phone settings.
- Now go to the Mobile Data option, it may be labelled a Cellular Data in some of the countries.
- Once you tap on the Mobile / Cellular Data option a new screen appears which allows you to toggle turn on or off the cellular data.
- If your Cellular Data is turned off turn it on by toggling the corresponding button.
- Now many other options will appear on the same page. Scroll down to see a list of different apps. By default, all the apps have Cellular Data turned on for them.
- Toggle the button in front of any button to turn it off. You can turn the data off for any number of apps.
Now the Cellular / Mobile Data is turned off for all the apps you toggled it off for. You can also switch it back on at any time you wish. There is no restriction to that. Now whenever the app for which you turned off the data will try to use Mobile data you will receive an error.
Therefore, you will have to provide Wi-Fi connection to run that app on your iOS device. Otherwise, you cannot work with that app using Cellular Data.
