Google has recently unleashed that they are launching Google Page Speed Service. If you get back to past, you should notice that Google has gradually concentrated on website page speed for better user experience. They launched Page Speed browser extension,  Page Speed Online API, mod pagespeed and finally the Page Speed Service.

What is Google page speed service?

Generally, the speed of a webpage depends on various factors. You can optimize the performance by compressing the images, gzipping and caching the resources and concatenating CSS. All of those need a good amount of knowledge and some time the webmasters are failed to optimize their pages to an exact label.
But, Google Page Speed Service allows you to forget all about them and optimize your pages automatically. Just use this service from Google and let it to take care of your site performance.

How do I check the difference of performance before and after optimization?

However, if you think that your site does not perform well, you can give this service a try. Currently, Google is offering this service to a limited number of webmasters free. Though, they have confirmed that the service will be paid and the pricing details will be released soon.
Meanwhile, if you want to try the Google Page Speed Service, fill out this form and wait for the approval of you request. If your request gets approval, Google will get back to you with the details of using the service and you can setup the page speed service for your website or blog.

How to setup Google Page Speed Service for your blog or website

Once Google approves your request, they will send an email along with the activation link at your email address. Clicking on that link will confirm the activation of the service for you and you can go ahead for setup it for your site by following the steps below:
Step #1: Login with your mentioned Google account to get access to Page Speed Service. Accept the terms by clicking the proper check-box. This will take you at the page where you will have to click Page Speed Service from the left sidebar.
Now, click on ‘Domain setting’ and then enter the domain name at the ‘Serving Domain’ field. Click the Continue button to proceed.
Step #2: The next step is involved into your domain verification. Choose the DNS method and follow the instruction from your domain provider for DNS verification. You can also add a text DNS record from your hosting cPanel.
Step #3: Now, you can preview the performance of your site by following the Preview settings. Learn in details about the Preview settings from here.
Page speed service needs to setup a reference domain to retrieve content from your hosting server. The reference domain can be obtained by adding a new A-record or CNAME from your hosting control panel. Learn more.

Step # 4. This step is to CNAME your site. Before you start this step, the service status should be Enabled. Read the detailed guide on this step.
