Google calendar is a well-known and powerful web-based task management tool. It is featured with multiple calendar views, planning for important meetings, viewing schedules etc. That’s the reason it is very popular among the internet users.
On the other hand, Facebook is the mostly used social networking site. The statistics says that almost three fourth of the regular net users have their Facebook account. So why not we create a bridge between Facebook and Google clendar to make your social life more productive?
For this, you just need to follow few easy steps:
#1. First of all, sign into your Facebook account.
#2. Click the “Events” tab on the left hand side on the home page of your account, below the profile picture. It has the details of the upcoming events including birthdays.
#3. Now click the “Delta” sign beside the “Create new events” option and select “Birthdays” from the drop-down list.
#4. This will list-up all the upcoming birthday of your friends grouped by month.
#5. Again click the “Delta” sign and select the option “Export Birthdays”.
#6. As soon as you do that, a pop-up dialogue box will appear with the link at webcal which you’re to use in next steps. Simply, copy the link and press the “Close” button.
#7. Go to Google calendar account and sign in with your Gmail account credentials.
#8. On the left-hand, click the down-arrow at the right the “Other calendars” section which will drop a menu down containing the option “Add by URL”. Click on it.
#9. This will pop-up another box “Add by URL”. Paste the copied URL address and press “Add Calendar”.
And thus the birthdays get automatically imported and within seconds you will find an entry “Friends’ birthdays” appearing under the “Other calendars”.
#10. Click that entry to view the birthdays of your friend in the upcoming days.
Added Feature
You may add a reminder for yourself on your Friends birthday:
- Click on friend’s name in the Google Calendar and click the “More details” link from the pop-up window.
- Click “Add a reminder”.
- Set “Email or pop up”, select minutes, hours, days, or weeks. (It gives you the feature of selecting a preferred time for yourself to get the reminder).
Furthermore with this method, the calendar stays up to date automatically.
So, go ahead and try this on your Facebook account so that you never need to say the words “Sorry” or “Please forgive me” to your friends or relatives.
