Extend Windows 7 and 8.1 Trial Period Up To One Year

If you can not afford the price or want to try Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 before you buy it, you can use the official trial version of Windows 7,8,8.1. Microsoft allows you download the Windows 7 and use it as 30 days trial version. So, you have the maximum 30 days in hand to use Windows 7. But there is a trick by which you can extend Windows 7 trial period upto one year.
There is a command by which the trial period can be extended up to three months. Each time you run that command, it increases the duration of the trial for the next thirty days. But, this command can be used only three times. So, by this, you can extend the trial period of your Windows operating for maximum 3 months.
So what does the “SkipReam” command do? It allows the user who still did not buy the product key to use any operating system including Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 from Microsoft without activating. Lets’s go throygh the various methods on how to extend Windows trial period for one year. Both of the Windows 32 bit and 64 bit versions allows you to extend the trial period.
After three months, you can also extend the useability of the command with a simple registry tweak to extend Windows 7, Windows 8 trial period to one year.
Below is the method in details for both the Windows 7 32-Bit And 64-bit Version.

  1. Type “cmd” in the Windows 7 start menu search box then right click on ‘Command Prompt’ and chose ‘Run as administrator’. You can also run the command prompt as administrator by typing “cmd” in the start menu search box and then pressing the Shift + Ctrl + Enter key combination from the keyboard.tweak to extend Windows 7,Windows 8, Windows 8.1 trial period Note: You may be asked for a password. If so then put it and hit ‘Enter’.
  2. In the command prompt, type the following command: slmgr -rearm.
command prompt method to extend windows 7 trial period
  3. Immediately, the system will prompt for a restart. Restart your computer and check the system status. You can check the status using this command: slmgr/xpr. Another 30 days will be added to the trial period.

Voila! Your trial period has been extended to more 30 days. You can apply this command only three times. So, here you can extend your trial period to maximum 90 days (3*30 days) .
Tip: Reset Windows 7 Password Without CD or Software.

There is a registry tweak by which you can increase the boundary of using slmgr -rearm command. As this tweak is about to edit your registry, I recommend to keep a backup of your registry.

  1. Type “regedit” in the start menu search box and hit ‘Enter’. The registry editor will open. You may be prompted for permission to access the registry editor.
  2. Navigate to the following path at the registry editor from the left sidebar. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
  3. In the right pane, find out the value SkipRearm. Now double-click on it and change the value from 0 to 1. Press ‘OK’.

registry tweak to extend windows 7 trial period
You are done! Now you can apply the slmgr -rearm command for 8 times more. So, you can extend the trial period to extra 240 days.
The total extended trial period is now 120 + 240 = 360 days.
Note: At first, apply slmgr -rearm command for 3 times then apply the registry tweak. After so you will be allowed to apply the command again for extra 8 times. To extend the trial period to exactly 360 days, apply the command in each 30th day of it.
Hope, you get your job done after reading our guide on ‘Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 trial period extension’. Additionally, you can also read how to extend Microsoft Office 2010 Trial Period.

After restart ASUS-logo coming & disappearing, same will continue forever. Until I need to press the POWER OFF-Button, to end all.
No insolvency of this problem, again I need to Install the fresh OS. (but it is in trial Mode)..
Please help me OUT.. !! it is my new LAPTOP..

    • On a different computer with windows 7 with the same architecture go to backup and restore make a recovery disk. If you don’t have one, download an iso for your architecture on a different computer and make a cd with it. On your not working laptop put the new cd in and boot from it. If it doesn’t come up your laptop has gotten permanently broken before you started doing all this. If this happens, your laptop is unusable but it’s ram chips are still good to sell. If it asks for an operating system but it doesn’t show one, you need to download an iso of windows of your architecture and make a cd of it and boot from it and it will install windows again for you. If it does come up, select it. If it doesn’t open startup repair, on the menu open it manually by clicking on startup repair. If it works, restart and it should work. If it doesn’t boot from the cd again. If it fails click finish and click command prompt. in the cmd (command prompt) type bootrec /FixMbr and press enter. Then type bootrec /FixBoot and press enter. Then restart. 90% chance it worked! If it didn’t you need to download an iso of windows of your architecture and make a cd of it and boot from it and it will install windows again for you. 90% chance. If the installer doesn’t come up or that doesn’t work your laptop has gotten permanently broken before you started doing all this. If this happens, your laptop is unusable but it’s ram chips are still good to sell.

  14. OK,
    So how it works ??!!
Install the Windows 7 Enterprise Trial version.
It’s free for download from Microsoft. You just need a live.com account. It’s a small price !!!
Activate the Windows 7 after install (it comes with a key for the trial version, you only need to click on activate Windows)
After you activate, gives you 90 days licence. But you could rearm for another 3 times ( with the command slmgr.vbs -rearm ). So in total you have 360 day of use.
    Isn’t that hard !!!

  15. nice tip. I always use remove wat or windows 7 loader to solve this issue but I ve always found that whenever 2nd time when I use the same version it didnot work for me. Then I ve to search newer version .

  16. (Reposting due to spelling mistakes from myself, sorry for that!!!!)
After reading the section of the trial extension to 360 days, there is only a remaining question from my side: what happen if i input another number (different of “1”) as value data(2,3 or 4 in hexadecimal) instead of zero??? i was thinking in trying to extend a windows 7 trial that i used to have over 1 year and i need your guide up to this point.

  17. Thanks so much! I bought an excellent little tab from China, that had Windows Ultimate trial. I shopped around a bit, as you do, to find the best deal I could, and found the retail version discounted 25%, worth the squirrelling. But, down to two days remaining on the trial by Thursday, and no probability that the purchase would arrive before the weekend….(wails “Noooooo!”). Found your advice, sorted! Brilliant!

  18. help i have wndows 7 enterprise and i only have 13 days to go before expiration, does this command rearm works with my os, thanks in advance sir.

  19. The command slmgr worked fine. The registry tweak does not work at all. After re-boot the registry value reverts to zero (0). I definitely don’t have a virus !!

      • Thanks! It works on my system (1 day for now). Sadly, I have wrongly did the SkipRearm procedure immediately after I restarted my computer following the “slmgr -rearm command”; I skip the 30-day three times procedure and go straight to “regedit” command. What happen now?? Please kindly advise what I should do next. Much thanks!

        • Don’t worry! Just revert your registry settings and run the rearm command once again. It will extend the trial period for another 1 month. Repeat it after each month and follow the remaining guides from this article.

  20. Whoa! Good endeavour your’s. Kindly send this site’s full domain name
to my mail ID. It is very useful for myself and to my students!

  21. Will this method work offline (Where there is no internet connection) as well? I am going to a place where there is no internet connection for four months and I want to be sure about this. Thanks in advance.

  22. This didn’t seem to work for me… I just recently did the reset 3 times BUT I may have already been using it longer than a year so maybe that’s why

  23. I changed the registry value and when I put in the rearm command it said it worked but after restart it was still not genuine, any suggestions?

  24. That’s nice but how [is what we all are wondering] can we extend it beyond that 360 days… that means after you do the 8 skip rearms… trick.
If there is no way then I might as well reinstall or go get a S-key they’ll work

  25. Hi when I tried that trick and the information about Windows trial. But the lower part of my screen is missing now. Is it OK? When I can see it again, my Windows also expire again.

  26. Sept 13 2014
This no longer works. I used the command prompt rearm 3 times successfully. I edited the registry as instructed (and the trial hasn’t expired yet; it will later today) but it will not let me rearm anymore. It says it was successful, but after restarting, it still says I must activate today.

  27. Yes, does not work now. Even though initially it says that it is successful, after restarting, the value goes back to 0. And it says you must activate today. There is no problem with my system and no virus. I think method only works with some systems. Is there a different method for 64-bit systems ?

  28. Thank you for the trick, I have one question. I have extended the period by using your trick after the trial period is expired, but when I rebooted the system, I got the warning message and my desktop remain black, please let me know how do deal with this issue.
    Thank you

  29. At the end of Home Premium extensions, could I just install Home Professional (or whatever)and start again from trial period for that version?

    • Suspiciously,
It is reported that sometime the 8 GB USB Flash does not work properly. Frankly, we’re also trying to find out the issue. Rest assured that We’ll update the issue with its solution once we find it. Thanks for submitting the issue. Let’s know if you have any other issues to solve.

  30. Try this command press enter this command works on 7 ultimate 32 bit. Type these command 20 times and you will get 1 year trial period.

  31. You can make the trial forever, but you must change the date back before.
I mean if you have 3 days trial of windows with back date -27 days you can have again 😉
I use this trick and after 3-4 months i will use slmgr -rearm , so i can use my windows more than 1 year . 😉

  32. Very important article.I followed according to your instructions. Now ok. But I want to ask something. When I installing windows 7 64bit service pack 1, I didn’t know cd key. But any how I installed windows 7. Now I extending trail period every month using Windows. Yesterday I installed another software named key finder. they gave me one of cd key according to my product ID. Im asking can I activate my windows using this cd key and how I am doing it pls help.

  33. Thanks Mate great stuff…
My question is this 240 days tweak or 120 extension tweak gonna work in 8 or 10 as well ?
What are the possibilities getting Win 10 forever because after July Next year they gonna force for purchase. I didn’t see much tweak and work on win 10 there is no buddy coming up with some genuine working stuff. I installed win 10 then it failed because of lots bug then I rolled back to 7 now i can’t go 10 again. lots of complications plus take huge time.

  34. Bill Gates is neither a genius nor a brilliant manager. he cares for money which means Dollar. By introducing Window 10 he has punished poor students of third world countries including India . But there is no impact upon China which is suffering not due to piracy and hacking but the anger of Almighty in the form of pollution. Nadela has already shown interested in knowing the problems of young Indians. Any way don’t go for bloody Window loader which will infected your computer with stubborn virus.Let us hope Sundar Pichai and Nadela don’t fight for superacy. Save money to purchase a licenced Product key and enjoy sound slumber.

  35. Question: does this work even if you’ve exceeded the 30 day trial? I’m guessing the answer is yes?
Situation: I installed Windows 7 on January 23. I used the “slmgr -rearm” command on February 23 to extend the trial 30 more days. However, I forgot to use the command again on March 23, and then didn’t use the PC for a few days. When I booted on March 26 my desktop background color was black, and there was a message in the lower right hand corner saying that this version of Windows 7 wasn’t genuine. I executed the -rearm command again and rebooted, and my desktop went back to what it looked like before, and the message was gone.
Just wondering what your thoughts are on this situation.

  36. its a nicely elaborated article ! love to read it. The important thing that writer must should have to keep in mind is the availability of windows 10 & the rate of user attraction towards it.

  37. i have to say that; it is exactly the what for which i am looking for. Its really help me to extend the license of my windows. Tanks for sharing this info. Love the way how you have explained it. It has been a great info for me to be able to sustain my performance of windows.

  38. Windows 10 is garbage. Please stop teaching us how is morally wrong to use hacks.
Microsoft refused to give me new key so I don’t give a f*ck about how much money they lose! Windows 7 is favourite OS and thanks to low-security I can activate my OS free.

  39. @Tanmay,
Everything worked fine on windows 7 for the first 90 days, but the registry tweak keeps reverting back to “0” after I reboot.
I am using Windows 7 64bit Ultimate Edition. I think this problem is due to latest updates for Windows 7 as I like to keep my Windows 7 updated.
I think the registry tweak might only work with early versions of Windows 7 that do not have the latest updates.
@Tanmay, if the problem is not because of latest Windows 7 updates, then maybe it is because I did the registry tweak within only a one minute before the 90 day extension was due to expire! Surely, there must be a setting somewhere in the registry that can be changed to trick windows into thinking that it is still in trial mode. I tried setting the date to an earlier date, and this allows me to access Windows 7, but the registry tweak continues to revert back to “0” after reboot.
What are your thoughts on this? (Is a format and re-installation, the only option?)
