ASUS Zenfone Max was launched with a massive 5000mAh battery at a price for INR 9,999, in January 2016. Now, the company has launched an upgraded variant of the same, with a few improved specifications and a slashed price [it has received a 10 percent price cut]. The new Asus ZenFone Max [ZC550KL] smartphone is now available In India at INR 8,999 on Flipkart.
Design wise, the new Asus ZenFone Max remains same. It has a thickness of 10.55mm and weighs around 202 grams. The smartphone sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD [1280 x 720 pixels] resolution. It is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor [upgraded from Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor]. The smartphone comes in two variants with 2GB/3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which an be further expanded via a micro SD card. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS [previous version had Android 5.1 Lollipop OS] with company’s own Zen UI on top.
The new Asus ZenFone Max sports a 13MP rear camera with laser auto-focus and f/2.0 aperture. There is also a 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The LTE Category 4 offers download speeds up to 150Mbps. The dual SIM dual standby smartphone comes with the massive 5,000mAh battery, which is the USP of the device and can easily last more than a day even with heavy usage. It can even be used as a power bank. Officially, Asus promises about 37.6 hours of talktime on 3G, 32.5 hours of Wi-Fi web browsing and 22.6 hours of video playback.
