Anonymous Email account – Advantages and Limitations

Tanmay Internet Leave a Comment

A great way to send messages, announcements, invitations and even advertisements is through Email. Just access your internet and deliver your message fast and easy. Faster than your old postal man walking down the street. You can do these things, thanks to our technology today. Email is a very reliable way of sending messages, no hassle and don’t cost you too much either.  But did you know that sending messages through email can also be privatize and make you, the sender, to be unknown? Do you have something in mind that is bothering you and you want them to know what you are feeling? But you don’t want them to know about your identity? You can let those people know anything without them having to realize who you are. And this is by sending message anonymously.
The process of sending message, comments or suggestions without knowing the sender is called anonymous messaging. The purpose is to let you inform the person about something you noticed without revealing to them who you are. Another purpose is to be able to report or give important messages to the receiver without revealing the sender also for the sender’s interest himself. Like for crimes that you don’t want to get involved in and you wanted those law enforcers to know what you witnessed in the crime scene. You want to comment on a certain topic online but you don’t want people to know that you were the one who commented on it. These are just some of the reasons and situations where anonymous sending may be handy. Without your name or email, you can secure your identity and be safe from any kind of retaliation for what you’ve done. As for witnesses, it offers protection and privacy so that the people specifically the criminal won’t know who turned him in.
But be mindful of this, other people use this method for stupid things such as blackmailing, pranks and jokes. They can use this advantage to send or to scatter secrets or revelations. They can actually make the target suffer for the consequences of these anonymous messaged. This anonymous email sending also has several disadvantages. This kind of messaging allows users to be confident as if they won’t get caught or be penalized in doing things anonymously. Since the person they are dealing with don’t know how to find or locate them.

Anonymous accounts can be traced using IP addresses. This IP address contains the location of the person through his connection. There are simple instructions to locate the IP address of the sender and IT experts already know how to locate the address.  But locating the addresses doesn’t mean you already found the culprit. Like for instance the person went out to rent a computer from an internet cafe. The shop will be located elsewhere because the computer used is may be in a different location. And this may be tricky. In this case, the owner will be held liable and must report or point the person who he thinks is the one to be blamed. In cases where the victim is offended or may have been hurt and the sender violated the law in any way, all persons that may have the access to any valuable information to point out the sender will be requested to cooperate through a requesting order from the court. The providers of emails will turn over valuable information to know and locate the person who committed such crime. This is one of the things that anonymous senders must know for it may put them also in a big trouble if they will not be very careful. They must learn how to limit their power to send messages that are inappropriate and may be punishable by law.
