Alcatel has launched a new smartphone in the Indian market, called Alcatel Pop Star. The TCL Communication-owned brand has priced the new handset at INR 6,999. It will be exclusively available via Gadgets 360, in Metal Gold and Metal Silver colour options. The Alcatel OneTouch Pop Star was initially launched at IFA 2015 last year.
“Pop Star is our fashionable yet affordable range of smartphones. We are very excited to launch this phone in partnership with Gadgets 360 and this is another step towards our recent e-commerce initiative to bring technological advanced and stylish phones at affordable pricing,” said Praveen Valecha, Regional Director, Alcatel, APAC BU India.
“Alcatel Pop Star smartphones launch in the Indian market is a step towards reaching out to a larger consumer base. We are expanding our smartphone range in the market and Pop Star is targeted at those consumers who prefer an all-features smartphone within a budget,” said Krishan Kalra, E-commerce Head Alcatel, India.
The Alcatel Pop Star features a 5-inch IPS display with HD [1280 × 720 pixels] resolution and a 160-degree wide viewing angle. It measures 142.5 x 71.5 x 8.6mm and weighs about 145 grams. The new smartphone is powered by a 1.oGHz 64-bit quad core MediaTek MT6735 processor along with Mali-T720 GPU, 1GB RAM, and 8GB internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via a micro SD card. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.
The Alcatel Pop Star features an 8-megapixel rear camera with a LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options include 3G, 4G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, A-GPS, micro USB port, and Bluetooth. The dual-SIM smartphone is backed by a 2,000mAh removable battery. Other features include an accelerometer, a proximity sensor, and an ambient light sensor.
