The year is coming towards an end and we bring down to you the list of tablets that were flops of the year. We saw a transformation in technology this year, as tablet became a new style statement of the youth. It would not be wrong if we say this year was the Year of Tablets .
Many tablets were launched all through the year offering several features. From Apple(the largest market stake in tablets) , Samsung to Dell and Acer almost all the electronic device manufacturer was involves in the manufacturing of the tablets. But some of the tablets were expected to be a hit in the market were major flops.
Here is a list of tablets that were the major flops of the year :
1). Blackberry Playbook
Blackberry Playbook the much hyped tablet of the year was the biggest upset in the market. Marketed by Reliance India Mobile that costs around Rs. 25k did not received positive reviews from the market.
The tablet lacked many wanted features which was the major reason for its being flop. Although the tablet has a unique design and a powerful Operating System then too it could not make a count in the market. The major disadvantage of the tab was the absence of connectivity i.e. it has only Wi-fi. You could not use it as a cell phone while at the same price in the market there were many tabs in which you can opt for these features.
2). Motorola Xoom
Before the launch of Motorola Xoom, many experts were talking about this tab can give tough competition to iPad and could change the fortune of Motorola in the tablet market. Soon after it launch, it was disappeared from the market due to several reasons.
The tablet was considered to be much heavier and no one prefers to carry a heavy gadget with himself . Another reason was its OS Android 3.0 HoneyComb. There were lots of bugs involved in this version and it also lacks many apps and games.
3). Asus Eee pad Transformer
Asus Eee pad Transformer is the unique tablet with a long battery life and a large display size. But it was another upset and could not make an impact in the market.
The reason for its flop was again OS HoneyComb. Another reason was its virtual keyboard which imposed many problem in writing text. It was unable to compete with its rivals like Samsung and Apple.
4). Dell streak 7
Dell the major PC maker in the world failed to mark its presence when it came to tablets. Dell Streak was the low quality product from Dell which looks more like a cell-phone rather than a tablet.
The reason for its flop was the size of the screen, the resolution, poor display, low video quality and many such features like a cell-phone.
5). Acer Iconia Tablet
Acer Iconia Tablet also failed to make its presence in the market despite of the awesome features like a large display size, latest Operating System, etc . But it lacks in many field and the major weakness was its Camera and the weak processor .
Another disadvantage of the tablet was its thickness which makes it a heavy tablet compared to another tablets in the market .
